CrowdProperty has now funded the development of 700 Great British homes although we are just beginning our journey to unlock a material level of much needed housing supply throughout the country. There are other ways we can help people who need homes and therefore we are delighted to announce that CrowdProperty will be partnering with the charity St Basils to help tackle youth homelessness across the West Midlands.
As a proud, Birmingham-based business, we have been bowled over by the great work St Basils does to support over 5,000 16-25 year-olds each year who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. This is a cause close to our hearts and aligns with our mission to support SME developers build more Great British homes.
At any one time there are over 450 young people living in St Basils' 34 supported accommodation schemes which see over 1,500 youngsters every year. St Basils has a full range of prevention, accommodation, support and engagement services as well as services which aim to ensure young people develop the skills and have the support needed to move on successfully.
Over the coming year we will be hosting fundraising events, as well as supporting existing initiatives. These donations are vital for the charity as it continues to help disadvantaged young people across the West Midlands by providing accommodation, employment training and other support services.
Mike Bristow, CEO at CrowdProperty, on announcing this partnership said: “St Basils are helping to improve the lives of vulnerable people across the region. Through the services they offer, they support young people to escape the streets and provide the skills and support that are so important in reducing the risk of going back to a life of homelessness.
“Since we founded CrowdProperty in Birmingham in 2014 we have been keen to support the local community. This partnership with St Basils provides us with the opportunity to contribute to something we are passionate about and help to improve the lives of those who are less fortunate.”
Sian Dhillon, Business and Communities Executive at St Basils, said: “We are delighted to be working with CrowdProperty. This is a great partnership of two organisations whose values align very well in that we really care about improving the lives of others and the communities in which we work”
If you would like to specifically support St Basils, would like to know more or have any challenges you would like to see our team undertake for St Basils, we would very much welcome your thoughts.
Kind regards,
The Team at CrowdProperty
About St Basils:
St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping over 5000 young people per year across the West Midlands region with specific services in Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, the Wyre Forest and Coventry.
Every year over 1200 young people are housed in our 33 supported accommodation schemes, which for some young people includes their young children as well. We have a range of prevention, accommodation and support services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, training and employment and move on. The aim is to help them successfully break the 'cycle of homelessness' so that they can go on to experience a bright, fulfilling future and never return to a state where they are at risk of homelessness again.
St Basils also works with young people and partners on a national basis (funded separately). We facilitate the National Youth Reference Group and the Youth Homeless Parliament, we are part of the national End Youth Homelessness Alliance and we are working to roll out our 'Positive Pathway' model nationwide.
